INVITES APPLICATIONS FOR THE FOLLOWING TEMPORARY POSITION
One (1) 1.0 FTE Temporary Full- Time Psychologist, Psychological Associate or Psychometrist
Summary of Position : The Psychologist, Psychological Associate or Psychometrist is responsible for the completion of psychological assessments, providing consultation to schools, and supporting capacity building in staff. The successful candidate will work as a collaborative member of a multi-disciplinary team. The performance of the duties will ensure a quality service approach for the students and families in BWDSB.
The Psychologist, Psychological Associate or Psychometrist will support the vision, mission, and priorities of Bluewater District School Board, while contributing to a positive, supportive, and student-focused team environment.
Location: Bluewater District School Board Education Centre, Learning Services – Student Support
Commencing: September 1, 2025 to December 5, 2025
Status: Temporary
Salary: $ 106,851.00- $110,351.00 (Psychologist/Psychological Associate)
$ 95,242.00- $ 98,742.00 (Psychometrist)
Hours: Monday - Friday seven hours per day. Typically, PSSP members work 8:30am – 4:00pm, but a flexible work schedule may be necessary to accommodate meetings.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and be responsible for the provision of psychological assessment and consultation services in assigned schools
- Conduct psychological assessments using a variety of tools and techniques to provide information about students' psychological and educational needs
- When applicable, diagnose disorders related to children's learning, social and emotional needs
- Prepare comprehensive assessment reports and provide feedback that clearly and concisely summarize assessment findings, providing relevant and usable recommendations to support the student's success
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge of child development and child psychopathology
- Provide expertise to school personnel to interpret assessment reports completed by professionals external to the board
- Collaborate with other Learning Services system and school-based staff regarding student exceptionalities, diagnoses and IEP and programming.
- Consult with school personnel and parents regarding the needs of students who are experiencing difficulty in learning
- Work effectively with other members of the psychology team and other disciplines within Learning Services
- Advocate on behalf of students to support their academic success and well-being
- Maintain clear, concise, and accurate clinical file documentation, protecting privacy and confidentiality, as per the standards and regulations established by regulatory college and adhering to the board's policies and procedures
- Remain current on relevant research, best practices, legislation, and professional literature related to school psychology
- Prepare and provide professional development sessions to promote capacity building for school and system staff
- Practice within a strengths-based, anti-oppressive framework, inclusive of cross-cultural considerations that embraces the diversity of students.
- Participate in collaborative planning meetings with BWDSB staff and community partners to facilitate appropriate referrals that will meet student identified needs
- Act as a liaison with community service providers
- Registered staff may be required to assume clinical supervision responsibilities for unregistered staff
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Experience:
- Doctorate or Masters in Psychology (School, Counselling, Clinical) from an accredited university
- Registered in good standing with the College of Psychologists of Ontario as a Psychologist or Psychological Associate (or the ability to become registered)
- Unregistered staff would work under the supervision of registered member of the CPO
Assets:
- A minimum of two years’ experience working with school-aged children, youth, and their families
- Excellent Interpersonal skills that help to build strong relationships with students, educators, and community service partners
- Knowledge of evidenced-based practices in school psychology with competency in School Psychology
- Experience with diagnostic formulation and communication of psychological diagnoses according to accepted diagnostic criteria (e.g., LDAO/LDAC, DSM-V, etc.)
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- The ability to solve complex problems in collaboration with colleagues, supervisors, teaching staff, and administration
- Interest and willingness to evolve skills to maintain alignment with current best practices in school psychology
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to independently organize time, effectively prioritize and manage competing demands and execute tasks to meet deadlines
- Knowledgeable in Microsoft applications
Job Requirements:
- Eligible to work in Canada
- Valid Ontario Class Driver’s license, use of a vehicle and willingness to work all regions of Bluewater District School Board (Grey Bruce)
- Clear vulnerable sector police check
